Nigerian skit maker and streamer Shank Comics has stirred conversations online after claiming that comedians are wealthier than many music stars.

Speaking during a livestream, he argued that the perception that musicians are richer is largely influenced by their flashy lifestyles and public display of wealth.

According to him, top comedians like Bovi Ugboma and Basketmouth are actually richer than Afrobeats stars such as Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

Shank Comics suggested that while musicians often showcase luxury cars and expensive lifestyles, many comedians focus more on investments and wealth-building behind the scenes rather than public display.

“I think there is more money in comedy than music. Bovi and Basketmouth are far richer than Asake, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and other musicians, but they prefer to invest rather than buy cars.

“Comedians are very conscious of the future, so they invest more than they spend, and they don’t spend lavishly on luxuries.

“A lot of comedians can afford the luxurious automobiles Nigerian musicians are buying,” he said.
