Father Uses Hot Pressing Iron to Burn Daughter’s Private part Over Bedwetting in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command says it has taken into custody a man identified as Amos Paul following allegations that he used a heated pressing iron to burn his 10-year-old daughter’s private part over bedwetting.

Paul, who lives in Unaun, Upenme, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state, allegedly carried out the act before it came to the notice of the police on Thursday.

It was gathered that the child sustained grievous injuries from the ordeal and had to be taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where she is presently being treated.

Policemen attached to the ‘A’ Division in Owo were said to have responded promptly on getting wind of the incident, arresting the suspect shortly after.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, in a statement on Thursday, said the case has been forwarded to the Gender Unit for discreet investigation and appropriate action.

The state Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, described the alleged act as barbaric, insisting that such conduct has no place in society.

“Such an act is barbaric and will not be tolerated under any guise,” he said, stressing that the command remains committed to safeguarding children and other vulnerable groups from all forms of abuse.

He also called on residents to report any suspected case of child abuse or domestic violence to the police promptly, assuring that culprits would always be made to face the law.
