Today is World Mental Health Day.
Many people are battling with their mental health and wellness, which includes their physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
A positive mental health is essential for our general health and well-being. However, one in every eight persons worldwide suffers from mental health problems, which prompts Yes fm’s Oluwasemiloore Ige to speak to people about how they cope with and overcome their mental health issues.
I don’t want to struggle with my mental health, I’m that kind of person that I don’t know how I always do that but I always expect both the good and the bad.
It is difficult to say you want to sit down, sit back and try to manage it because if you snooze you loose most of the times, so I will not say that there is a particular way that I manage my mental health, I just pick up the girdle, pick up the loin, guard it, tighten it and move on.I have a favorite quote”keserasera” keserasera means what will be, will be and what will not be, will not be. I kind of believe in that quote very much because I know that if anything should go wrong with my decision or with anything in my life it has already go wrong, the next thing to do is find solution.
Also a psychologist, Mr Awolowo Olaoluwa spoke about strategies to use in protecting mental health and its use in daily living.
If you want to protect your mental health, one of those things you have to do is to help you to be stable, you have to embrace nature. Nature happens to be one of the way to bring memory to feel calm,to ease stress, engaging in activities also parts of what makes us healthy. A man cannot just leave throughout a day and say because I want my mental health to be stable all I will do is to sleep throughout a day. No, you have to engage in an activities that will stress you a-bit, that will require energy from you, then that will make the rest sweet,so you have to embrace nature, go out, chill out, plan for a day of relaxation for yourself, please work on the people that is around you, people that pass comment about you. There is a research that state that even when somebody is on the sick bed and their are people around them, encouraging them have the highest rank for surviving than people on the sick bed without people around them.
World Mental Health Day was established on October 10, 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health and Since then, it has been observed every year with the aim of raising awareness in the global community about critical mental health agendas.
