The Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Students’ Affairs, Honourable Victor Dideoluwa Olojede, has denied allegations of violence during protests over the abduction of pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
Yesfm’s correspondent Banke Bello reports that Honourable Olojede made the clarification in a statement released to pressmen, where he gave an account of his activities during the demonstrations, noting that those circulating his phone number were attempting to tarnish his image.
He explained that on Monday he joined protesters moving from Mokola to Agodi Gate, Total Garden, and the State Secretariat gate, where he intervened to maintain order by stopping protesters from manhandling motorcyclists and elderly persons, assisted a participant by recovering her seized camera, directed that a gas-laden truck be allowed to pass to avert danger, and his intervention led to the reopening of roads at 2:0 p.m.
According to Olojede, he went with the NANS leadership to Oriire, after meeting with the Governor, where he helped separate parties when some protesters attacked students at a filling station,he dismissed allegations that he pointed gun and ordered beatings, maintaining that he has never held a firearm.
Honourable Olojede urged Nigerians to uphold the right to fair hearing, stressing that anyone who makes a claim must back it up, while reaffirming his commitment to the safe return of the abducted children.
